First blog of 2026….oops!

Well hello and welcome back to my blog! Its been a few months since my last one and to be fair I have been flat out busy, especially the last couple of weeks but more on that later.

First of all I am no longer employed! I quit my job at the end of February and am now busy preparing things for moving forward in my new career of being a full time photographer. I say full time, but it will be in fact part time as I am not under pressure to get the work although I will be actively pursuing it. So if you know anyone or if you yourself would like to learn more about how to get the best out of your photography then feel free to contact me to arrange a workshop.

Secondly I am in the process of constructing a new website which should be coming online in April. I have had no issues with Squarespace but moving forward I want to add options to sell product from my site and things can get expensive with Squarespace when you do this. I would rather pay up front for a website than have a subscription based one which will cost me far more in the long run. You will notice a change sometime in April but my website will maintain the same address as I move it from this to the new one.

Thirdly, I have invested in what is fast becoming the best piece of equipment any landscape photographer worth his or her salt seems to have nowadays…….a camper van! Alright, mine isn’t half as swish as Nigel Danson’s or Thomas Heaton’s but its defintely better than Gavin Hardcastle’s truck/mobile home thing (joke). I have purchased my Dad and Stepmums Vauxhall Vivaro, a 2012 model which has been fully converted and only done 51k miles. I have already been doing some work to it so as to make it more suitable for my needs but so far I have been very happy with it, apart from one minor hiccup involving a dodgy immobiliser which will soon be sorted.

Having more time on my hands also means I have no excuses now not to do more Youtube videos. I keep promising I will do more but always find a reason not to! Its not that I dont mind being in front of the camera, I am just very self concious so find it hard to motivate myself to do it. I promise I will try harder this year!

You will also see an uptick in the blogs too, as I intend to put out one a week moving forward. Some will be about my photography trips, others might be about the van and some will be reviews of gear. Feel free to read the ones that interest you the most but I will try to make them all as entertaining as I can!

So Monday I paid a brief visit to Savernake as thick fog was forecast and it was pretty decent among the ancient oaks and beeches of this wonderful place.

I had a bit of stress at the end though as the van refused to start. Apparantly it seemed to stem from a new battery causing issues with the ECU/immobiliser but it seemed to have sorted itself out by the time the AA turned up. I have had the issue again since then but have figured out a workaround that fixes the issue straight away. THe benefits of owning an older vehicle lol. All part of the fun.

Thats it for this week. Please continue with the support as it means the world to me if you read these tales of mine!
