I am BACK baby!
Well hello everyone and welcome back to my website! I took the site down towards the middle of last year for various reasons but mainly because my depression was kicking off big time and I was seriously doubting everything I was doing including photography. Thankfully I am over that “Hiccup” now and I am back bigger (literally!) and better than ever.
So what’s been happening you might ask? (or you might have stopped reading by now!). Well, the first big news was I was featured in Nphoto magazine. They reached out to me and asked if I could do a feature on some of my lone tree images which I was happy to oblige with. I have had work featured in magazines and press before but not for a long time and I found it a quite exciting project. I had aspirations of being journalist at school so anytime I can live out that boyhood dream I will happily and enthusiastically take it.
The second big news of the year was being shortlisted in the British Photography Awards landscape category, which ended up being a trip up to London and the awards ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel. It was incredibly swish and I met some great folks up there. I sadly didn’t win the category but was happy I was beaten by such an incredible photographer as Gareth Mon Jones whose stunning Light on the Glen image took the top prize. Its photography like his that inspires me to get better and work on my own style and techniques to improve.
I spent most of autumn missing the colours this year and only had a couple of good sessions on Dartmoor and another couple of stormy mornings battling the elements at Porthcawl and Portland. In all honesty I havn’t really added much to the portfolios in the last few months.
This year has started well so far, finally getting some fog at Wistmans wood. Just ask my mate Dave how hard it is to get the grey stuff there! I am also conciously making the effort to explore the forests of Wiltshire more this year. Savernake and the New Forest are full of characterful trees that demand my attention and I look forward to aquainting myself with some of them in the coming months.
The incredibly beautiful and chaotic Wistmans wood.
So, to round up I am happy to be back, in a good place mentally at the moment and looking forward to a Spring full of new trees, forests and bluebells, all shrouded in mist and fog and lit up with shimmering beams of light with any luck! Please feel free to foloow me on Instagram/Threads the link is in my contact me section. Cheers!
